New from JDSU is the lightweight, SmartClass E1/Datacom, a handheld tester for the installation and commissioning of E1 and Datacom circuits and network elements used to transfer data and information from one location to another.
The unit features a large, easy-to-read colour screen and auto configuration, making it especially suitable for Tier 1 field technicians supporting large-scale deployments. Its key features include interoperability with PC software so results can be downloaded for report preparation, and a user interface that is available in multiple languages. Included are dual E1 ports for bidirectional monitoring and troubleshooting of E1 links and a datacom port with a variety of optional test cables to suit customer needs.
The handheld tester offers advanced test applications including MFC-R2 signalling test, VT-100 terminal emulation and remote control of the unit using a command line interface, providing even less-experienced technicians with a powerful and easy-to-use E1/Datacom installation, maintenance and test device.
