Fire is a hazard in almost every environment. Although there are many passive infrared detectors (PIR) available that detect fire, PIRs are not all the same, says passives specialist, Murata. For example, to detect flame without being triggered by other heat sources, a sensor and its associated circuitry must be immune to influences like sunlight and other high temperature bodies but respond the instant flame is detected.
Murata's IRA-E420QW1 and IRA-E420SW1 are specifically designed for the detection of fire, with the exclusion of other potential triggers. To achieve this, these sensors contain optical filters with narrow bandpass frequencies, 'tuned' to the 4,3 (IRA-E420QW1) and 4,45 (IRAE420SW1) micron centre-frequencies emitted by flames.
The unique construction of the Murata device provides high sensitivity, signal-to-noise-ratio and stability against temperature change and white light, with enhanced vibration and RFI immunity. The complete device comes in a 9,2 mm diameter can, 4,9 mm high
