Mean Well has announced the introduction of a 450 W general purpose AC-DC enclosed type switching power supply with a single output. Thanks to its non PFC design, the cost of the SE-450 has been kept low, making it a suitable choice for applications and territories where power factor correction is not necessary.
The AC input range is selectable between 115 and 230 V a.c. via a built-in switch. Using high frequency switching technology, the power supply boasts efficiency as high as 88%. It can operate in ambient temperatures up to 60°C, aided by a built-in DC fan.
On the input side, the SE-450 has circuitry for limiting inrush current while on the output side, a remote sense function compensates the voltage drop from lengthy wiring. Protection functions includes short circuit, overload, over-voltage and over-temperature, and safety approvals per UL and UCL are included.
