The US Department of Defence has granted Apem a QPL (qualified products list) certification for its 12000X778 series professional grade toggle switches. The company’s products are listed on two QPLs, the QPL 3950 (switches, toggles, unsealed and sealed toggles) and the QPL 83731 (switches, toggles, environmentally sealed). A QPL lists specific part numbers which the manufacturer has demonstrated a capability to manufacture reliably and in compliance with his/her own internal requirements and the military specifications.
The switch features a double shell case for mechanical strength and high electrical insulation, and a pinned lever for added strength to ensure a strong electrical ground to the bushing. Its front panel is sealed to IP67 specifications.
Reliability and long life are achieved through electrical contacts made from gold-plated, solid silver alloy rivets. The switch is suited for both low level applications (10 mA, 50 mV) and power applications (2 A, 250 V a.c. to 4 A, 125 V a.c.) with an electrical life of 20 000 to 150 000 cycles. Available with both solder lug and printed circuit terminals, all models feature a rugged 11,9 mm mounting bushing. An optional locking lever actuator provides protection against non-deliberate actuation. The switch is also offered with an optional white fluorescent tip for visibility in low lighting environments.
