Amphenol’s commercial connector products are used in a variety of end user applications including networking, telecommunications, server and computer, storage and HDD, consumer electronics and entertainment, professional audio, industrial, and military/aerospace.
The standard USB connector uses a push pull interface with no latching. It relies on the design of the mating interface and the ground tabs to maintain the connection of the plug to the receptacle. To suit industrial computing applications – where vibration and inadvertent separation of the cable is a potential problem due to loss of data when the mated interface is accidentally broken – the USB connector Series A features a unique latching mechanism, whereby the latch must be intentionally raised in order to remove the plug. An accidental pull on the cable up to 10 kg force will not separate the connectors.
