Small relay handles heavy motor loads

Motor reversing automotive applications, such as power windows, door locks, sun roofs and seats, can be demanding. Fujitsu Takamisawa has released the FTR-P3/P4 series in single and twin package versions for this reason. Designed for switching heavy motor loads, the FTR-P3/P4 is just as effective for switching lighter motors loads, such as those for intermittent windshield wipers, tilt steering wheels and retractable antennas claims the company. To better meet this diversity, the relay comes with either standard, 0,3 mm contact gaps or 0,6 mm gaps for over-voltage circuit breaking capability.

Although the single-packaged version of the FTR-P3/P4 measures just 17,4 mm (L) x 7,2 mm (W) x 13,5 mm (H), it has a contact capacity of 25 A at 14 V d.c. locked motor load, and a maximum switching current of 25 A at 16 V d.c. with only 600 mW power consumption. In a twin package this gives more switching capacity without taking up extra space in a module. The twin version (FTR-P4) also features an internal H-bridge configuration to make wiring the printed circuit board simpler.
