DIN-rail enclosure expands capacity by 30%

Camden Electronics has added a new size 12 enclosure to its versatile modular DIN rail mounting range offering 30% extra capacity.

A logical addition to the range, the new CNMB/12 snap-fit DIN-rail enclosure is 210 mm long compared with 160 mm for the CNMB/9. The additional length allows users to include larger electronic printed circuits in a single enclosure.

The new enclosure is supplied complete with 12 terminal guards as standard, eight perforated on 5,08 mm pitch and four solid. A vented option is also available for applications requiring additional heat dissipation.

With the addition of the CNMB/12, a total of eight versions is currently available offering lengths of 17,5, 36, 53, 71, 88, 106, 160 and 210 mm, all 90 mm wide.

Offering greater versatility, Camden’s design features PCB guides to ensure boards are held in place firmly and moulded screw holes in the base to facilitate mounting of PCBs with heavier components such as relays or transformers. Up to three PCBs can be mounted horizontally while there are four mounting positions for vertical boards.

In addition, the enclosure base is fully sealed with none of the holes that are found on competing products, avoiding the need for any insulating pads and reducing assembly costs for users. The design of the enclosure is such that all tabs on the body have been eliminated to avoid small lugs that might break off.

Standard colour is grey (RAL7035), although Camden can also supply mouldings in black, green, red or blue for volume orders. In addition, ventilation slots and other features can be incorporated in the tooling for volume customers who wish to avoid the need for machining. Besides reducing costs for the end user this facility also results in a stronger moulding compared with a similar enclosure with machined ventilation slots.

Additional special features include snap-on terminal covers to IP20 finger protection with perforated screwdriver and wire entry holes and tabs as standard and spring-loaded DIN-rail clips that can be snapped open to allow chassis/surface mounting. Terminal covers and snap-in panels can be provided to customer specifications for volume orders.

Other optional special features include EMI-shielded metallic coated boxes. Camden can also supply an optional adapter for G-rail mounting.
