Toolless jack offers alternate termination method
28 March 2001
Interconnection
The AMP Netconnect SL series toolless jack offers an alternate termination method to traditional 110-style punchdowns. A hinged stuffer cap provides a means to lace and dress the wire pairs prior to termination. Once the pairs are properly placed and trimmed, the stuffer cap is snapped onto the jack terminals using a common pair of pliers. A view window aids in ensuring proper termination and placement of wires. This termination technique provides consistently high performance levels from jack to jack. The toolless jack eliminates the need for a specialised punchdown tool, making it particularly attractive for SOHO (small office/home office), residential and other 'do-it-yourself' markets.
The AMP Netconnect toolless jack is available in both Category 3 and Category 5e performance levels, for both UTP and FTP/S-FTP (shielded) cables. The jack is compatible with existing AMP Netconnect 110Connect faceplates. Its slim profile will also offer the advantage of higher density when used with the new SL Series outlet, 4-port duplex mounting strap and SL Series furniture outlet.
