Samtec introduces rugged interconnect strips
9 July 2008
Interconnection
Samtec has introduced a new line of rugged interfaces in parallel, perpendicular, and durability coplanar board stacking and cable-to-board applications where signal integrity and durability are critical.
Featuring Samtec's rugged Edge Rate contacts, these systems offer good impedance matching, low broadside coupling/crosstalk, low insertion/withdrawal forces, and high cycle lifetime.
The 0,8 mm pitch Edge Rate terminal and socket system (ERM8/ERF8 series) offers up to 150 I/Os with stack heights from 7 mm to 16 mm. This system is robust when 'zippered' during mating and unmating. This connector set has optional latching systems and extended guide posts that are ideal for blind mating and docking applications.
For perpendicular applications, the ERM8/ERF8 series surface mount terminals and sockets may also mate with right angle terminals and sockets or edge mount terminals. The Edge Rate right angle terminals and sockets mate together for coplanar applications.
Also available is the mating 0,8 mm pitch, 50 Ω micro coax Edge Rate cable system (ERCDA Series). This system features Samtec's 34 AWG EyeSpeed ribbon cable and signal integrity optimising 'direct-to-lead' cable termination.
