The new Contactron product family from Phoenix Contact provides three-phase '4 in 1' semiconductor reversing contactors as an electronic replacement for mechanical reversing contactor combinations. They combine four functions in one: right-protection, left-protection, motor protection relay and emergency stop to category 3. Switching, reversal, and protection of motors up to 4 kW takes place in a small space of just 22,5 mm DIN-rail width.
These compact devices save on space and wiring costs, while also providing a configurable bimetal function of up to 9 A. A microprocessor-controlled combination of robust relay technology with non-wearing semiconductor technology enables smooth, low-wear switching. This reduces the load on relay contacts and thereby increases their durability by a claimed 10 to 30 times compared to purely mechanical standard solutions.
Variants are also available for switching with 24 V d.c. or 230 V a.c. This product has an EC type examination certificate in accordance with ATEX.
