The new FL WST Basic Wireless Simulation Tool from Phoenix Contact aims to save costs when installing wireless systems in industrial environments. This software makes it possible to determine the number of wireless devices and the correct site of use within an industrial building. This enables reliable wireless coverage and saves time during later installation and calibration of the system.
It also enables users who are inexperienced in using wireless applications to get an early and quick graphical overview of the distribution of wireless devices using a production site map. To enable this, walls, machines and access points are called up from a library and positioned. The subsequent simulation provides a clear, colour-coded overview of the quality of the wireless coverage. This can be optimised by moving the devices on the graphical interface. This makes it possible to simulate and plan installations for the Bluetooth and WLAN (2,4 GHz/5 GHz) standards.
