Digital-Logic's new Microspace PC/104-Plus extension card MSMCA104+ISOL is a compact, high-performance solution for connecting up to two CAN networks with a PC/104-Plus system. The 32-bit card is equipped with two 16 MHz SJA1000 CAN controllers and two 82C251 CAN transceivers, and transfers data at baud rates of up to 1 Mbps.
Both CAN interfaces guarantee galvanic isolation of up to 500 V between the PC/104-Plus and the CAN side. The two CAN controllers are connected to the 32-bit PCI bus by an FPGA and require only one PCI resource.
The card has dimensions of 90 x 96 x 17 mm (W x L x H) and a weight of 80 grams. It requires a 3,3 or 5 V power supply and operates within the temperature range of -25°C to +70°C. An MTBF (mean time between failures) value of over 200 000 hours confirms the high level of reliability and longevity of the PC/104-Plus board. Typical applications are measurement engineering, vehicle bus and PLC connection.
