Boost converter delivers 50 V from single Li-Ion cell

austriamicrosystems launched the AS1340 high voltage boost regulator with up to 50 V output voltage, which is suitable for LCD or OLED display bias in battery powered applications. It delivers 50 mA at 24 V or 30 mA at 36 V from a single Li-Ion cell and can provide adjustable output voltages in the range of 2,7 to 50 V. The device operates from a single 2,7 to 5,5 V supply; additionally the supply can be split to allow a higher supply voltage, up to 50 V, for the coil. The AS1340 also offers an automatic power save operation which improves efficiency at light loads; furthermore, the micro power design reduces the operating supply current to only 30 μA. The IC offers a shutdown mode requiring less than 1 μA current combined with an output disconnect feature. It offers 2% output voltage accuracy and an available power-ok feature indicates if voltage is within 10% of regulation.
