Translucent ice-blue enclosures

2 April 2008 Enclosures, Racks, Cabinets & Panel Products

Hammond Electronics has introduced Ice Blue translucent versions of its latest 1591XX Series small instrument housings. The plastic is translucent to blue, white and near white LEDs, readouts and displays, enabling them to be mounted inside the enclosure, reducing configuration costs because cutouts will not need to be machined. Moulded in ABS with a satin texture finish, the seven-strong family ranges in size from 87 x 57 x 36 mm to 193 x 113 x 58 mm. The cases are optimised for mounting PCBs horizontally, with four stand-offs moulded into both the top and the base.

Designed for applications where up-to-the-minute styling is important, where it will be beneficial for the internal components to be visible or for them to be fully protected, the enclosures are sealed to IP54, with a lap joint keeping out dust and splashing water. The lids are secured using M3 screws running into brass bush inserts in the base, so they are ideal for applications where repeated access to the housed electronics is likely to be required.
