Xilinx' Virtex-5 LXT FPGA family won the prestigious EDN China Innovation Award for Best Product of 2007 in the Digital IC and PLD category. At an awards ceremony held at the 2007 EDN China Innovation Conference in Shenzhen, the 65 nm Virtex-5 LXT platform was recognised for its ultra-fast ExpressFabric technology, proven ASMBL architecture, low-power triple-oxide technology and hardened PCI Express core.
About 200 nominations were submitted by a committee made up of technology managers from leading OEMs in China, well-known researchers and one senior editor from EDN China. The committee named 76 products from 50 companies as finalists which were submitted for on-line voting by EDN China readers. Over the course of 50 days, more than 20 000 votes were generated with the Virtex-5 LXT FPGA winning the largest number of votes in its category.
In April, at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, the Virtex-5 LXT platform was also named Product of the Year in the Digital IC's category in EDN Magazine's 17th Annual Innovation Award Competition. The design team responsible for the development of the Virtex-5 family also took home the top honour as Innovator of the Year.
