Panel potentiometer boasts 1 million rotation lifecycle

23 January 2008 Passive Components

BI Technologies has developed a 12,7 mm rotary panel potentiometer with a lifecycle of up to 1 million rotations. Designated the Model P260, the panel potentiometer features a conductive plastic element with up to six gangs, and is sealed for dusty or contaminated environments.

The potentiometer has IP66 ingress protection and has an enhanced contact spring to give it an extended lifecycle while withstanding harsh environments. In addition to its robust construction, the Model P260 features several detent and rotary switch options which enable its use in a variety of positioning and control applications.

Typical applications include joysticks, musical instruments, industrial controls, position sensors and board mounted panel controls. The Model P260 potentiometer features a resistance range from 500 Ω to 1 MΩ and a power rating of 0,5 W. Standard tolerance is to ±10%, with a maximum input voltage of 350 V a.c. and a dielectric strength of 1500 V a.c. Operating temperature range is from -55°C to +125°C.

The RoHS-compliant rotary potentiometer is available with both linear and audio tapers
