Mean Well gives 'power to the people'

23 January 2008 News

Mean Well is developing new 40 W/60 W/90 W single output AC/DC adapters - in the form of the GS40/60/90 series - and is calling for suggestions from Dataweek readers as to their desired product features.

In order to comply with the latest energy star regulations, the design is focused on energy saving and environmental protection. Along with the existing 6 W, 12 W, 15 W, 18 W, 25 W product series and the 150 W, 200 W models which are being planned, the company intends to develop a complete range of green adapters in 2008 to become an aggressive player in the power adapter market.

Using a IEC320C-14 standard AC inlet and equipped with an LED indicator for DC OK, GS40/60/90 are desktop adapters with very low 'no load power consumption' (less than 0,3 W or 0,5 W) and up to 90% efficiency for energy saving. The series is also designed to fulfil the recovery rate of IT/communication equipment required by WEEE. With 90 to 264 V a.c. full range input and 5 to 48 V d.c. different output voltage options, the adapters can be used for all kinds of electronic devices such as consumer electronics, communications products and industrial devices.
