Teledyne Relays has announced that improvements to its Series GRF300 and GRF303 high-repeatability, broadband TO-5 electromechanical relays now deliver 10 Gbps data rates for digital signal integrity applications. The relays are designed to provide a practical surface mount solution with improved RF signal repeatability over the frequency range. Improved ground connections provide the 10 Gbps data rates.
Teledyne collaborated with two customers to evaluate the performances of the GRF300 and GRF303 relays. An eye diagram simulated using the S-parameter data demonstrated the ability to transmit 10 Gbps signals. The maximum useful bandwidth reached 19-21 GHz.
These ultra-miniature surface mount relays employ a butt-lead mounting scheme. They also feature a unique ground shield that insulates and shields each lead to ensure excellent contact-to-contact and pole-to-pole isolation. This ground shield also provides a ground interface that results in overall improved high-frequency performance as well as parametric repeatability - specifically the RF insertion loss, which is ±0,1 dB.
The GRF300 and the sensitive GRF303 are engineered for use in RF attenuators, RF switch matrices, ATE and other applications that require dependable high-frequency signal fidelity and performance. Each model is available in coil voltages of 5 and 12 V d.c. They are hermetically sealed to offer robust shock, vibration, temperature and ESD resistance, EMI shielding and immunity to cleaning solutions.
The GRF300 measures 9,52 mm in diameter and 8 mm in height, while the GRF303 measures 9,52 mm in diameter and 10,8 mm in height.
