Measure milliamp signals without breaking the loop

22 August 2007 Test & Measurement

The 771 is Fluke's latest innovative approach to measuring milliamp loop signals, where lifting a wire from a terminal (breaking the loop) is now no longer necessary. This directly impacts maintenance time by removing the need to call a control room to override the control of a process loop when breaking the loop. It can save time when testing analog I/O on a PLC for example, because it eliminates the need to check measurements on a console. In addition, the meter eliminates the possibility of catastrophic plant outage caused by the accidental opening of a critical loop.

The meter features accuracy of 0,2%, with resolution and sensitivity to 0,01 mA. The hold function captures and displays changing measurements and the dual backlit display shows both the mA measurement and the percentage of 4-20 mA span. The detachable clamp can be used docked or attached via its extension cable to facilitate measurement in tight spaces, and a measurement spotlight is integrated to illuminate wires in dark enclosures. This meter can also measure 10-50 mA signals in older control systems using its 99,9 mA range.
