Murrelektronik is demonstrating its commitment to proactively improving environmental protection, with its newly re-developed PUR cable.
Previously, the PUR cable, which is radiation cross-linked and suitable for robot applications, was subjected to additional surface treatment (electron-beam cross linked). This allowed their direct application in welding robots without the risk of cable destruction from welding sparks. However, the downside of this surface treatment is that cables are no longer recyclable since they must be disposed of as hazardous waste. With immediate effect, the company is replacing this cable type for sensors and actuators with a new, equivalent cable that no longer requires surface treatment and is therefore recyclable.
Like its predecessor, the welding-spark resistant PUR cable type is resistant to high temperatures. In addition to its suitability to trailing cable and robot applications, the cable is approved by UL and CSA, making it suitable for worldwide deployment. The cables are designed for extreme continuous-duty operations, as required in the fields of industrial robots (specifically, welding robots), high-performance trailing cables, machine tools, assembly machines, and metal-cutting production machines.
