The new snap-in aluminium electrolytic capacitors of the B43305 and B43508 series from EPCOS offer solutions with significant space saving ability.
The components feature the same electrical properties as earlier types, but are smaller by up to two case classes. That corresponds to a height reduction of 5 and 10 mm respectively. In this way the components enable the design of smaller power supplies and frequency converters. The further miniaturisation was achieved by the use of new materials, an improved capacitor winding design and an optimised concept for the mechanical construction.
The B43305 series covers the capacitance range from 68 to 3300 mF and is available for voltages of between 200 and 450 V. It has an operating life of 2000 hours at a temperature of 85°C, with dimensions of between 22 x 25 mm (diameter x height) and 35 x 55 mm. The B43508 series covers the capacitance range from 82 mF to 2700 mF at voltages of between 200 and 450 V. The product is designed for use at temperatures of 105°C and then attains an operating life of 3000 hours. The 1000 mF/400 V type stands out in the 22 x 25 mm to 35 x 55 mm range and can be regarded as a benchmark in this class, according to EPCOS.
