Precision connectors for high-end instrumentation applications

16 May 2007 Interconnection

Many industrialists or research institutions rely on the precision of the process measurement and control systems they use. The quality and accuracy of the data signals generated are fundamental to instrumentation and scientific analysis. Guaranteeing the signal integrity, connectors therefore play a critical role in the performance of instrumentation equipment.

For more than 50 years, Fischer Connectors has been supplying instrumentation connectors for a multitude of applications such as environmental analysis equipment and telemetry systems, mass spectrometers or vacuum generators to name a few.

Temperature, pressure, liquid level, flow, velocity, density - the nature of the variables measured can be very different. The same applies to the operating environment which can be very extreme, such as high temperature or pressurised test facilities. Committed to providing the optimum solution to ensure that each application is equipped with the most suitable connector, Fischer's product range comprises over 20 000 connectors and accessories.

To guarantee reliable performance in all conditions, Fischer engineers and tests its products to withstand the specific operating environment they are tailored for. Most of its connectors are available in liquid-tight (up to IP68) or hermetically sealed.

To solve today's complex interconnection requirements, if required, a single connector can be used with a mixture of electrical contacts, coaxial contacts, fibre-optic elements, and even inserts for the transmission of fluids and/or gas. In a compact connector body, a high signal density can be configured; this streamlines the data collection process and minimises the wiring. To avoid connection interferences, the connectors are engineered with a 360° electrical EMC shielding, high-strength cable clamping system and an integrated push-pull locking system.
