8-bit flash micros operate to 140°C

Infineon Technologies' new XC866 HOT microcontrollers exceed today's maximum temperature performance of 85°C for industrial and 125°C for automotive applications. These 8-bit embedded flash microcontrollers are qualified for use up to 140°C making them ideal for use in system designs where high environmental temperatures would typically require complex heat dissipation or cooling systems. The XC866 HOT MCUs with embedded flash memory feature up to 100 000 read/write cycles at 140°C. The chips are based on the standard 8051 architecture with on-chip flash memory of 4 KB, 8 KB or 16 KB. Performance and cost-saving features include a 26,67 MHz system frequency, an on-chip oscillator and PLL for clock generation and an embedded voltage regulator supporting single voltage supply of 3,3 V or 5,0 V. The XC866 comes in TSSOP-38 package. A full suite of development tools is also available.
