Complete plug-and-play IT package

Due to the need for information around the clock, the demands on IT performance are increasing all the time - and in smaller and mid-sized enterprises too. But how can one achieve a more secure and easily accessible IT infrastructure without making excessive demands on costs and on the often limited resources of the IT department?

Rittal, a leading system provider for housing and enclosure technologies, has the answer to this question in the shape of its Smart Package. The idea behind the Smart Package is to offer customers complete IT solutions, tailored to their own particular applications, so that the application can be started immediately once it has been delivered. It achieves this through the complete pre-installation and wiring of the integrated active components, so that minimum effort is needed in setting up and loading.

The core of the simple and versatile solution with its high packaging density is Rittal's TS 8 server rack system platform, which has been tried and tested. The cooling, power, monitoring and security components are integrated in three versions for three areas of application.

As far as airconditioning is concerned, the customer can choose between three different versions, depending on requirements:

* If ambient air is sufficient for cooling, then perforated sheet steel doors with a 78% open door surface offer a high air flow rate and thus effective cooling.

* For use in office environments, roof ventilators are ideal. They can easily generate heat losses of up to 2000 W from the rack.

* Where demands are higher, for example when a rack has been mounted in a production environment, a Rittal TopTherm cooling unit can offer a performance of up to 3000 W at an IP 54 protection category.

Each version can be used in connection with an intelligent power distribution. Rittal's PSM power busbar is already built-in and fitted with two socket modules. It is safeguarded via a UPS with a power of 2 or 3 kVA.

In addition, the compact overall system can be monitored by a built-in CMC-TC module and its sensors. This monitoring of temperature, fire early warning and access recognition and other features also serve to increase the system security.
