Highest voltage insulation for solid-state relays in miniature packaging

7 March 2007 Switches, Relays & Keypads

Avago Technologies recently released three new families of solid state relays (SSRs) with the industry's highest insulation voltage in a miniature SO-4 package size. Achieving an industry high of 3,75 kV in insulation protection, these SSRs with MOSFET outputs will allow designers to improve power efficiency, performance and reliability in low- and high-current circuitries often found in telecoms, consumer electronics, automotive and industrial markets.

Avago's ASSR-1510/1511/1520 (60 V, 1,0 A, 0,5 Ω) provide the fastest switching speed available in the 1,0 A SSR market, according to the company. Along with the ASSR-15xx, the ASSR-4110/4120 (400 V, 0,12 A, 25 Ω) and ASSR-1410/1420 (60 V, 0,6 A, 1,0 Ω) products are available as a 1 Form A (single-channel) SSR with MOSFET output in a SO-4 package and as a 2 Form A (dual-channel) SSR in a DIP-8 package.

Each product family features qualified performance across a wide temperature range of -40 to +85°C, fast switching speed of less than 1 ms and high transient immunity greater than 1 kV/μs. The miniature SO-4 package size gives designers much needed board space without compromising insulation performance.
