1U rack system can power up to 3 kW

21 February 2007 Power Electronics / Power Management

Mean Well has launched its first front-end rack power system: the RCP Series that targets growing 1U low profile 19” rack applications.

This industrial standard 19" rack system consists of one to three hot-swappable RCP-1000 units that can deliver up to 3000 W in a single rack. Featuring active power factor correction and extremely high power density, the series can provide rated output wattage even at 100 V a.c. input because of its high efficiency design.

Three kinds of output voltage level can be selected: 12 V @ 180 A, 24 V @ 120 A, and 48 V @ 63 A. The RCP-1000 also has a built-in trimming function so the output voltage can be adjusted between 90% and 110% rated value by adding external resistors.

Besides the standard functions of remote sense, remote ON/OFF control, 5 V/ 0,3 A auxiliary output, AC and DC 'OK' signals, the RCP-1000 series also has built-in OR-ing diode and Postronic connectors that ensure reliable hot-swap and redundant operation. Additionally, the optional I²C interface can offer users all manner of important information about the PSU if the on-line monitoring is required.

Applications include general front-end power system, server, instrumentation, telecom, and datacom, etc.
