Embedded OS has grown rapidly over the last couple of years. There has been tremendous growth of Linux and Microsoft also introduced its newly developed embedded NT, Whistler, and XP. According to Aaeon, a leading manufacturer of embedded single board computers, in recognising the importance of embedded software platforms it has further expanded on its software capabilities and offers clients a complete system.

According to the company, the platform, consisting of Windows 3.0, working drivers, and SDK (software development kit) is more powerful and applicable than the previous Windows 2.0 and 2.12 operating systems. First, the improved Win 3.0 CE system offers hard (real) time support. Response time using application and sub-system in Win 3.0 is much improved, offering faster and more precise feedback. Second, the SDK will allow customers the ability to create and program for their own needs and specifications, says Aaeon.

Following contract negotiations, Aaeon is combining the Windows OS to the single board computer model from customer selection, offering a total solution product.

The SDK package includes: Windows CE 3.0 SDK quick installation Guide; CD containing - Windows CE 3.0 image file, 4310-04.bin, SDK for Visual C++ and Visual Basic, user's instruction; DOS bootable diskette; Windows CE operating system (professional version 3.0 license) for embedded systems.
