Vishay's two new non-zero-crossing 1,5 kV/μs dV/dt phototriac optocouplers are designed to isolate low-voltage logic from AC voltages up to 380 V. The VO3052 and VO3053 phototriacs consist of a GaAs infrared LED that is optically-coupled to a monolithic photosensitive zero-crossing triac detector chip. A low-input trigger current facilitates easy interfacing with microcontrollers and digital logic. The VO3053 requires a trigger current of 5 mA to latch output, while the VO3052 requires a current of 10 mA. Rated with a 600 V blocking voltage, the phototriacs can provide isolation between DC and AC voltages on 120 V and 240 V a.c. lines, giving a 2X or better safety factor for control of off-line voltages up to 240 V. The phototriacs are designed for control of resistive, inductive, or capacitive loads, including motors, solenoids, high-current thyristors, and relays. The devices come in the 6-pin DIP package.
