Supertex' two new high-side current monitor ICs feature a very wide operating range of 8-450 V. Both the HV7801 and the HV7802 devices also boast fast rise and fall times of 700 ns, low quiescent currents of 50 μA, and space-saving packages. They are well suited for markets such as motor controls, off-line sensors, instrumentation amplifiers, and current sensing for high voltage LED drivers, batteries, and switched- mode power supplies. While the HV7801 features a fixed gain of five, the HV7802 also allows users the additional flexibility of programming the voltage or transconductance gain. The HV7801 is available in a 5-lead SOT23 package and the HV7802 in an 8-lead MSOP package.
