Complete test solution for Metro Ethernet QoS

6 September 2006 Test & Measurement

JDSU claims it offers the industry's most complete test solution to ensure Metro Ethernet quality of service (QoS) across core and access networks. By integrating a set of interoperable field test instruments, network probes and management software, the company says it offers a single-source solution for cost-effectively and reliably installing and maintaining Metro Ethernet networks.

The solution is said to be 'complete' because it addresses the three primary concerns associated with installing and maintaining Metro Ethernet networks:

* The ability to rapidly install new connections.

* The need to dispatch technicians to fix rather than find problems.

* And the need for a reliable method to maintain networks while simultaneously reducing truck rolls.

Designed specifically for interoperability to expand the testing capabilities of the service provider, JDSU products such as portable testers, Ethernet testers, and the Net Complete Metro Ethernet Service Assurance Solution combine to form JDSU's Metro Ethernet test solution.

"Managing Metro Ethernet networks has become complicated as next-generation IP services (IPTV and VoIP) expose QoS guarantees to greater scrutiny," says Gary Casper, Comtest's JDSU's product manager. "JDSU's Metro Ethernet solution enables communications service providers to install the service correctly the first time. The right test equipment can mean the difference between meeting and missing these key deployment metrics."
