Pulse joins the Multimedia over Coax Alliance

9 August 2006 News

Pulse has joined the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) and will introduce a series of RF diplexers, filters, and network interface devices to help enable home networking of digital entertainment between MoCA devices.

MoCA provides specifications and certifies products that allow broadband home networks to distribute digital entertainment throughout a home using existing wiring and without truck rolls. The technology underlying MoCA provides the vital elements necessary to distribute HDTV and DVD-quality digital entertainment throughout the home with high speed (270 Mbps), high quality of service (QoS), security through packet level privacy encryption, and the innate security and reliability of a shielded, wired connection, according to Pulse.

Said Ladd Wardani, president of MoCA: "Pulse and MoCA mutually benefit as Pulse helps fill out the components portion of the complete MoCA ecosystem and participates in what is already becoming the de facto standard for wired home networking."

"For many years Pulse has created products using the RF frequencies and magnetics now being addressed by companies in MoCA," said Fred Roden, senior product manager for the Pulse Telecom Division. "It seems only natural for Pulse to join MoCA and add its expertise to develop digital entertainment networks for home communications."
