A manual pick-and-place machine that is claimed to be easy to use, works fast, takes up limited space, and is affordable is being manufactured by Pretoria-based company Faze Electronics.

The unit allows for solder dispensing as well as vacuum pick and placing of components. According to the company, a sliding table on the manual pick-and-place machine acts as arm rest making actions fast, steady and accurate while comfortable, almost like writing. The unit does not use a carousel and picking is done directly from the component reels. Placing up to 4000 components per day or more depending on the operator, makes it ideal for prototyping and small to medium production runs.

A range of relevant complementary products are also available from Faze Electronics, like a hot plate for soldering the populated SMD PCBs, solder bath for soldering conventional components, component reel holders, and PCB carry trays, to name a few. The items are designed with the micro and small business in mind, and puts SMD technology within reach of everyone.
