Free software development kit for line of magnetic rotary encoder ICs

28 June 2006 Design Automation

austriamicrosystems is offering a free software development kit (SDK) for its magnetic rotary encoder IC family. Said to be easy-to-use, the SDK helps users develop customised software quickly and easily for applications developed with austriamicrosystems' family of magnetic rotary encoder ICs. These ICs contactlessly sense rotary positions via a small rotating magnet.

"We decided to provide a free software development kit to help our customers speed up their development cycles," says Josef Janisch, product manager for magnetic rotary encoder products. "This powerful tool will enable them to visualise the functions of their AS5000-based magnetic rotary encoder ICs in a very simple way and thus develop application software within the shortest time.

The SDK is based on a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) that can be embedded in many software platforms, including Microsoft Visual Studio (C#, C/C++, Visual Basic), Borland C++ Builder or LabView.

The software development kit supports the entire austriamicrosystems' magnetic encoder IC family and can be downloaded for free from www.austriamicrosystems.com/03products/20_rotary_encoders.htm
