Ultra-low noise wideband op-amp for speedy data acquisition

STMicroelectronics' wide bandwidth operational amplifier, the TSH300, is intended for high end industrial, medical and instrumentation applications. Its typical noise value (equivalent input noise voltage) of 0,65 nV/sqrtHz is thought to be the lowest in the industry for a wide band amplifier in the tiny SOT23-5L package, also in SO-8. The TSH300 has a bandwidth of 200 MHz at a gain of 5 V/V (GBP = 1 GHz). With its high slew rate of 230 V/°s and very good linearity - (SFDR of 55 dBc, measured with a 10 MHz output sine wave of


2 Vp-p into a 100 Ω load) - the TSH300 is ideal in ADC interface applications. Its ultra low noise performance and wide bandwidth have been achieved using a very fast 0,25 μm complementary bipolar manufacturing process. The amplifier is stable for gains greater than 5, enabling use for small amplitude input signals. Its topology allows it to also be used in inverting mode with superior frequency response. This provides good performance when combining two devices as a differential configuration. It operates from 4,5 V to 5,5 V on either single or dual supplies and is specified for use over -40-85°C.
