Multifunction instrument can analyse antenna parameters from 1,8-170 MHz

17 May 2006 Test & Measurement

The MFJ-259B is a complete radio test station, fully portable, which is intended primarily for use by radio hams.

Available from Radio Accessories & Data Modems, the test facilities include: frequency counter, RF signal generator, SWR (standing wave ratio) analyser, RF resistance and reactance analyser, coax analyser, capacitance/inductance meter, amongst others.

Radio Accessories & Data Modems has a complete range of radio communications products and test equipment available for many types of users.

Giving a complete picture of an antenna's performance the MFJ-259B instrument can show antenna Complex Impedances for frequencies from 1,8 to 170 MHz. The Complex Impedance can be read as a series resistance and reactance (R+jX) or as magnitude (Z) and phase (degrees). Additonally, the velocity factor, coax cable loss in dB, length of coax and the distance to a 'short' or 'open' can be measured in feet. One can also read inductance in μH and capacitance in pF, at RF frequencies.

A large easy-to-read two-line LCD screen and side-by-side meters clearly display the relevant information. With a built-in Ni-Cad charger circuit, it is fully portable for use at remote sites, up towers, and on DX-peditions. Enclosed in a rugged all-metal cabinet it measures 102 x 51 x 172 mm.
