Quick-lock M12 connector solution for standard sensors

6 April 2006 Interconnection

The M12 standard is currently the predominant standard for actuator and sensor wiring in machine installation sector. Normally the plug is screwed to the sensor.

For several years now, Murrelektronik has been providing a 'dynamometric screwdriver' as an auxiliary tool so that customers can fit the plug both simply and securely.

Although there are now many different M12 systems with quick-lock connectors on the market, they all have a distinct disadvantage, according to Murrelektronik: none of the systems has a quick-lock connector that can be used with standard sensors.

Murrelektronik has thus tackled this market requirement and has come up with the MQ12, a connector that complies with protection class IP67 using a simple but innovative method: the connector is placed onto the sensor - meaning that the flat gasket in the MQ12 immediately seals off the connector. Next, the plug is fixed to the thread by turning the locking mechanism clockwise a quarter of a turn. An optical indicator now shows that the connector has been locked.

The MQ12 is available in female straight, female 90° and female 90° with LED versions. The cable types that are available are PVC and PUR/halogen-free in yellow or black.
