Apem has just expanded its range of piezo switches with a stainless steel version and new models featuring ring illumination. Piezo switches have no moving parts, are dust and waterproof and their metal surface is impervious to other types of contamination.

This makes them ideal for harsh applications like food processing, medical or chemical equipment.

The standard switches, available in anodised aluminium, comprise: non-illuminated models; models with an illuminated ring providing a good visibility of the backlighting, even under the user's fingertip; models with an illuminated dot.

The stainless steel version is available on non-illuminated models only. Custom configurations combining different dimensions, materials, electrical functions, colours and markings can also be produced.

Typical applications include: beverage dispensers, lifts, safety and security equipment, information kiosks, industrial equipment.

With a life expectancy of 50 million cycles, other key specifications include: 16 or 22 mm bushing diameter; standard momentary NO (pulse) electrical function - momentary NC (pulse), alternate; 200 mA current (up to 1 A on some models); 20-75°C; IP68 sealing.
