Power supply for CompactPCI

22 February 2006 Power Electronics / Power Management

The maxpowerPRO power supplies from Schroff now have improved output power and a higher level of functionality to fulfil the increased demand of users in the telecoms, automation and test and measurement sectors, says the company.

The 3 or 6 U maxpowerPRO supplies are available with an output performance of 250 or 400 W and an efficiency of up to 83%. With an AC input range of 85 to 264 V a.c. they are usable in a wide range of applications. With four output voltages the unit complies to the demands of the cPCI standards for 3,3 V, 5 V and ±12 V. For improved variability, with 80 A at 3,3 V and 50 A at 5 V, higher output voltages are achieved.

During parallel switching of the voltages during redundant operation (n+1) the Current Share Bus on the output voltages ensure even current distribution. The temperature range was increased to 55°C during full operation, and the hot-swappable units are equipped with a P47 connector and have all necessary accreditations (CE, TÜV, UL and CSA).
