Company helps maintain efficient and reliable high quality VoIP service

22 February 2006 Test & Measurement

A leading Canadian telecommunications company, SaskTel, has implemented JDSU's Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) test and performance management service assurance solution, called NetComplete, to help ensure reliability, efficiency and quality of service. JDSU (formerly Acterna) is represented in southern Africa by Comtest.

The communications company offers complete wireline, wireless, Internet and e-business solutions via a digital network and is launching its own VoIP offering over the next several months. NetComplete is a triple-play service assurance solution that combines active testing and passive monitoring of VoIP equipment. The company says that it chose JDSU's NetComplete to improve service quality management processes because it enables them to obtain visibility of the end-customer voice experience throughout the entire lifecycle of a call.

NetComplete will also be able to perform service-assurance functions, such as service monitoring, rapid fault isolation, and tier-two troubleshooting to effectively address the unique challenges of delivering carrier grade VoIP. It will help identify, isolate and overcome common quality of service issues, such as poor call quality, dropped calls and slow dial-tone response.
