Developed by Remote Control Technologies for prolonging the life of diesel engines and reducing maintenance time, SafePower V1.01 is an engine management system designed to monitor various important parts of an engine. The device monitors these parameters of the engine: water temperature, water level, oil pressure, turbo boost pressure and exhaust gas temperature.
The unit interfaces to a PC via RS232. Customised software on the PC is used to configure the upper and lower limits of each parameter that the device measures from the engine. During engine operation, the SafePower V1.01 monitors if any of these specified inputs fall above or below the limits, and alerts the driver. It also saves the fault in non-volatile memory together with the date and time that the incident occurred. The current status of each monitored input is also displayed on an LCD mounted on the dashboard of the vehicle.
This vital stored data can be retrieved later via the customised software and studied to prevent further strain or damage to the engine. The data can also be used to quickly resolve any disputes between vehicle owners and workshops/dealers.
During maintenance a technician will connect the device to the computer via RS232 and download the history of the engine, thus giving a better idea of the overall condition of the engine. With the help of SafePower V1.01, the technician's job is faster and the vehicle owner is made aware of the fault before it is too late.
