Highly linear mixers have exceptional image rejection

29 June 2005 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

Hittite Microwave has introduced seven new GaAs MMIC I/Q Mixers targeted to VSAT, microwave radio, test equipment, sensor and military applications from 6 to 23,6 GHz. The HMC526/7/8 GaAs MMIC I/Q Mixer die offer IF bandwidth of up to DC to 3,5 GHz, conversion loss as low as 7,5 dB, and Input IP3 as high as +30 dBm. As a result of their monolithic construction, they provide LO to RF isolation of up to 50 dB, and Image Rejection as high as 40 dB. Where a surface mount package is preferred, Hittite's HMC521/3/5/6 are now available in RoHS compliant, leadless 4x4 mm SMT packages (-LC4 suffix). They provide RF/LO coverage from 4 to 23,6 GHz with DC-3,5 GHz IF bandwidth, and Input IP3 as high as +28 dBm. Image Rejection and LO to RF isolation are outstanding at up to 40 dB and 50 dB respectively, while each of these mixers can be configured for either Image Reject or Single Sideband Upconverter applications.
