Barlow Communications, local distributors for Ideal Industries, has introduced the next generation of its popular LinkMaster LAN and voice cable tester - LinkMaster PRO XL.
Targeting network installers, repair technicians and data communications contractors, the LinkMaster's capability has been expanded to map, test and troubleshoot cable and coax runs with important new features including the capability to blink Hubs to assure connected configurations on active networks.
LinkMaster PRO XL offers professionals increased voice testing resources such as detection of RJ11 (1, 2 or 3 pair) and the ability to automatically sense and adjust the pairing and pin numbers to the 3-pair USOC standard in cable test, length and tone generator modes.
For enhanced convenience and time saving, Ideal designed the PRO XL to display length measurement during initial results, a first for LinkMaster testers. Using the cable capacitance method, UTP, ScTP and coax length can be measured in feet or metres. If a remote is present in the Length mode, the ID number will be displayed.
The instrument is designed for simple, one-person operation. It has a larger, backlighted LCD screen to yield improved readability while being full-alphanumeric it permits graphic viewing of test results in a two-line by 16-character format with icons.
The LinkMaster PRO XL comes with eight twisted-pair remotes featuring built-in jacks for RJ45 and RJ11. This allows a contractor to quickly identify split pairs, shorts, open circuits, miswires and reversals, as well as test for shield continuity. The tester will display wire map for 10base-T and Token Ring with a remote connected. Eight CATV colour-coded F-Terminators are included with the kit to test coax cable. The tester can also be employed without its remotes to perform one-ended pre-testing of cable for shorts, open circuits and split pairs. In addition, there is a built-in tone generator for individual conductor identification and tracing.
The LinkMaster Pro XL is housed inside a rugged casing that keeps out grease, oil, dirt and moisture to maintain accuracy and reliability.
