New measurement tools

4 May 2005 Test & Measurement

National Instruments' NI-DAQmx 7.4 is the newest version of its measurement services and driver software. Free for download at www.ni.com, it is the foundation of the measurement services software included with most NI data acquisition devices, including M Series multifunction DAQ devices. Application developers can use NI measurement services software to lower system costs by reducing software development, system setup, configuration, maintenance and calibration time.

NI-DAQmx 7.4 delivers a flexible programming interface for NI LabVIEW, NI LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio for Visual Studio .NET, and includes new time-saving tools such as NI-DAQmx simulated devices, the new Channel Calibration Wizard and additional professional tools.

The new NI-DAQmx simulated devices feature gives engineers and scientists added flexibility for developing PC-based data acquisition applications. Developers can create NI-DAQmx simulated devices to virtually explore device capabilities and begin DAQ application development without having the physical hardware present. NI-DAQmx simulated devices also are suited for experimenting with software tools such as DAQ Assistant or NI SignalExpress without setting up a physical acquisition. The Channel Calibration Wizard helps further, to quickly calibrate the entire measurement path for a channel from the sensor to the measurement device.
