The reliable supplier of professional electronic components

6 April 2005 News

MB Silicon Systems (MBSS) is an independent technical distributor of electronic components and manufacturer representative, covering the whole of southern Africa. Established in January 1997, the company has expanded rapidly to capture a sizeable portion of the South African electronics components market.

MB Silicon Systems is certified as an ISO 9001:2000 company, a certification that further enhances the company's pledge and commitment to the quality of service that it provides to its customers. The company operates from its own premises in Johannesburg, and also has a presence in the two other major commercial centres of Durban and Cape Town.

As a company that primarily serves professional equipment manufacturers by supplying state-of-the-art components, particularly semiconductors, MBSS says it can fulfil practically any customer requirements as far as professional electronic components are concerned. It attributes this to its custom-made software with 'parametric search' capabilities. The parametric search enables MBSS sales engineers to easily find components that are available from multiple sources and to define the alternative parts if required.

The continuous investment in software has paid off handsomely - MB Silicon Systems is today one of the few South African companies capable of implementing an e-commerce strategy, covering complete business-to-business transactions. Further to this, and as another example of the commitment to an innovative service philosophy, it says that the response to customer enquiries is speeded up considerably by the implementation of electronic data interchange (EDI), which enables realtime interrogation of the stock holding of certain major suppliers and principals.

Currently, MB Silicon Systems has distribution agreements with over 20 overseas manufacturers, offering a wide range of semiconductors, various passive electronic components, displays and connectors. The company's customers include all major manufacturers and users of electronic components in the country.

MB Silicon Systems is a young company with a clearly defined path ahead, which aims to provide value to its principals and suppliers, and to create a rewarding and stimulating work environment for its staff. The company says that its continued commitment to supply value to its customers, by supplying the highest quality components at competitive pricing, delivered on time and supported by the reliable technical backup and service, remains unchallenged.
