Ready-for-production integrated digital TV designs

6 April 2005 News

During the recent Electronica 2004 trade show in Munich, iKonvergenz, a Singapore-based R&D centre, launched a 20" integrated digital TV (IDTV) design based on its Polaris chassis. Unlike typical reference designs on the market, iKonvergenz said it provides ready-to-produce designs which any manufacturer can immediately adopt and apply on a mass production scale. Anyone interested in the LCD TV market can save large amounts of investment, time and resources, while providing the latest LCD TV with its solutions, it states.

The chassis addresses the global DVB-T TV markets, where digital TV services are gaining importance. The TV is equipped with a universal tuner and can be directly connected to any VHF/UHF source. DVB reception is based on a DVB-T COFDM demodulator IC and a single-chip DVB compliant digital audio, video and graphic controller IC for decoding and processing the MPEG-2 signal. A unified memory interface allows cost-effective, flexible memory architectures. The complete software package for customers includes drivers, middleware and an application layer for standard digital television reception functionality.
