High-frequency ultrasonic sensor for counting/monitoring

23 March 2005 Passive Components

Murata's MA200D1 series high frequency ultrasonic sensors are designed to enable distance measurement for robots, FA and household electrical appliances at short distances. The major advantages of this type over previous products include quick response and short ringing time. This results in higher measuring accuracy, particularly at short distance ranges.

In the frequency band of 220 kHz ±20 kHz, the MA200D1 series has achieved sensitivity attenuation of -3 dB, making it stable over a wide frequency band. Directivity is approximately 20°, enabling the sensor to be easily installed in equipment. It can also be used for applications other than distance measurement, such as to detect double-fed paper in scanners and copying machines, and double-fed bills in cash and ATMs.

It offers fast response and stable output over the operating temperature range of -20 to 70°C. The detection range of 0,01 to 0,3 m provides mechanical flexibility while the 9 mm high by 18 mm diameter body makes the sensor easy to accommodate. Connection is via 50 mm cable with an AMP-CT2 two-pin connector.
