NDS-approved smartcard interface IC

23 March 2005 DSP, Micros & Memory

TDK Semiconductor's 73S8024RN single smartcard interface IC, is fully approved by NDS for use with NDS' VideoGuard Conditional Access solution in set-top-boxes, digital TVs and personal video recorders (PVRs). The device has an increased card clock frequency range to accept the most advanced smartcards and is suitable for current and future NDS high frequency requirements.

73S8024RN can be used in conjunction with any host microcontroller and uses TDK's low-drop-out voltage regulator. TDK's LDO-based chips exhibit improved noise performance relative to typical step-up converter-based ICs, while standards compliance is made easier. The LDO architecture allows the IC to provide the card with up to 90 mA minimum.

The TDK 73S8024RN is available in SO28 and QFN32 packages.
