Microchip's new PIC16F785 microcontroller provides a large complement of onboard analog peripherals, including ADCs, comparators, a voltage reference and two op-amps. These make it ideal for digital control in power conversion designs, as well as a broad range of sensing and closed-loop control applications. Today's electronic systems require intelligent control of multiple power rails, startup conditions, fault detection, exception handling, and complex battery-charging algorithms, and the 20-pin PIC16F785 provides the familiar analog building blocks within a programmable microcontroller, making it easy for power-supply designers to use digital control in their power-conversion applications. Package options include PDIP, SOIC, SSOP and 4x4 QFN.
