New three-phase power quality analysers launched

9 February 2005 Test & Measurement

Electest, sole distributor of Fluke products in southern Africa, has announced the launch of the Fluke 430 Series three-phase power quality analysers. These are innovative handheld tools that offer unique features like AutoTrend and System-Monitor to drill down into power quality problems faster and in greater detail. With CAT IV 600 V safety rating for all four-channels, the 430 series can measure all phases and neutral on virtually every connection in a low voltage application.

Designed for applications where power quality is critical, the Fluke 433 and 434 are comprehensive three-phase troubleshooting tools. They measure all power system parameters to the IEC61000-4-30 standard, eg, true RMS voltage and current, frequency, power, power consumption (energy), unbalance and flicker, and they can track (inter-) harmonics. They also automatically capture events like transients (as fast as 5 μs and as high as 6 kV), interruptions, rapid voltage changes and dips and swells.

Optimised for mobile applications, these rugged instruments run over 7 hours on a single battery load. The large data memory stores up to 50 screens and up to 10 measurements each comprising 32 parameters - including set-ups and trend data - recorded for more than a year, all of which can be transferred to a PC via FlukeView software for analysis or use in reports. Both models also feature versatile scope functionality.

The 430 Series three-phase power quality analysers are supplied in a hard case as a complete package with four clamps and five test leads. A kit to upgrade the 433 to 434 specification (extra functionality plus FlukeView and optical connection cable) is also available.

Fluke 433 and 434 are the first instruments of this type to meet the stringent 600 V CAT IV safety standard required for measurements at the service entrance, and can be used on virtually all power connections and outlets in low-voltage power-distribution systems. Also, as four-channel instruments, the Fluke 433 and 434 can simultaneously measure voltage and current on all three phases and neutral. The series supports all commonly used wiring schemes.
