TDK Semiconductor's latest member of its family of embedded modems, the 73M2901CE V.22bis modem, integrates on-chip intrusion and ring detection without additional components, which the company says results in 25% cost and 35% footprint reduction compared to other transformer or silicon DAA solutions in the market. Suited for cost sensitive applications such as satellite set-top boxes, it is pin-for-pin compatible with TDK's 73M1903 soft modem AFE. This offers designers an easy migration path to a software modem solution on the same circuit board. The 73M2901CE is offered in a 5 x 5 mm QFN package. It offers SMS messaging support, enhanced CID-II and FSK modes, and features a new low cost transformer DAA architecture that can be easily configured for various international standards, including CTR-21 and FCC.
